What I’m Watching:

Crazy combination right?  I have my guilty pleasure, which is The Real Housewives of ATL, and then my son, who is a fervid animae watcher, suggested I watch Death Note, and I like it.  I’ve always loved Murtaugh & Riggs from the Lethal Weapon films, so naturally, I was curious about the TV series, and it’s really good, you have action and laughs all in one, can’t beat that.  Greenleaf is a show I caught last season, and it’s just all drama-filled and juicy, just like I like my night time TV dramas.

Minimalism March Update

Since,  we’re halfway through March (geesh), I thought I’d share my progress so far on my minimalism journey..

About a week ago, Michigan had a severe windstorm with winds getting up to (and probably beyond) 60 miles an hour.  We were without power for days (some are still without power)  a lot going on–wi-fi was down, cable out, and my cellphone wasn’t working very well.  Needless to say, it was a catastrophe.

But, we got through it, and here I am, at home, on my laptop, giving you a little update.  I’m thankful, and I’m so grateful to be back on track.

For the first two weeks, I had to stay offline (harder than I thought it would be), meditate, declutter, prioritize, cut down and back, get my goals together, and clean up.  The hardest part for me was totally unplugging and putting down my phone.

There are some things that I need to fine tune and really apply to my life, not only for this challenge, but in a true effort to improve and simplify my life, which is the whole purpose for Minimalism March.

For the rest of this challenge, I will be more consistent.  I will still apply the previous prompts, and find ways to infuse this into my everyday life.  The more I do them, the more they will become habits,  good ones, because goodness knows I have enough bad habits.

There is something to be said about making an effort to make your life less difficult, to find new ways to make things go a little smoother.  To remove all the clutter and chaos and let your simple life shine through.

Still time to join me!  It’s never too late to live a simpler life…..

My (spoiler-free) Thoughts on the Movie Get Out 💭

So, my hubby and I went to go see Get Out last night at the drive-in.  I’ve been seeing all the hype and buzz concerning this thriller, so I really wanted to see it.

I could’ve waited until it came on cable, NetFlix, or Amazon Prime.  I’m not saying it was a terrible flick, it just didn’t live up to all my expectations.

My ten thoughts on Get Out:

  • It did a great job of maintaining the creepiness throughout the film
  • I caught some of the “messages”
  • It will make you think
  • Everyone will come away with something different
  • It made me laugh a few times
  • Could this really happen? (conspiracy theorists will say it is happening)
  • Where did Jordan Peele come up  with this concept?
  • Jordan Peele is married to a white woman right?
  • It was very Twilight Zone-ish
  • I may need to see it again, like the movies Inception and The Matrix

The thing about this film, you want to go see it now because EVERYONE is talking about it.  I say go see it, and form your own opinions.  If nothing else, it will give you something to talk about.

Post-It Notes & Positive Quotes

I’m a sucker for a good quote.  For someone to say exactly  how I’m feeling, or thinking, and say something so badass, I wanna copy it and write it down.

It’s a good idea to keep yourself surrounded with positivity.  We’re bombarded with negative images and words everyday, we need to keep focused on the positive things.  Like I always say; “Good Vibes Only”.

I’ve found some post-it notes and positive quotes that I’m going to stick on my mirrors, my walls, my doors and even in my car, daily reminders to stay positive and happy.

I find the best ones on Pinterest and Tumblr.  My next project is to print out a few, frame them, and put them in my little space to keep me and my thoughts on the right path.

“Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is going to determine how you’re going to live your life”

                                                                                                            {Joel Osteen}

What are some of your favorite quotes?  What do you do to keep positivity in abundance?

“Optimism is a happiness magnet, if you stay positive,  good things and good people will be drawn to you”

                                                                                                                      {Mary  Retton}

Minimalism March 🗓

While I was reading La La Lovely, I enjoyed a post about trying a 30 Day Minimalism Challenge that she noticed on Cait Flanders.

This is the perfect segue to my one year  “Self-Care Journey”. It has daily tasks that will help you declutter and take some time out to reflect.  I love lists and challenges because they keep me focused and give me a little structure–something every true procrastinator needs.

Minimalism= less clutter and more space.  There aren’t a lot of “things” in your way.  You can feel free, experience some calmness, and appreciate the FEWER things that you do have.  I need to see past all the “things” and learn to be more grateful.

“The secret of happiness is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.”

Beginning March 6th,  I will begin my 30 Day Minimalism Challenge.  Goodness knows if I achieve nothing else other than getting my house organized, I will feel like I’ve made a huge impact on my peace of mind.  My house is cluttered, and I really would love for it to be an organized home filled with scented candles, oozing peace and relaxation.  Feel free to join me, I could definitely use a couple accountability partners.

Logan (spoiler-free) Review 🍿

logan_2017_posterAn older and even more irritated Logan (Wolverine) helps a little girl escape to a safe haven for genetically engineered mutant children.  Of course he’s reluctant, but a persistent nurse and an old, battered Professor Charles Xavier convince Logan to do something good, and help the little girl.

Laura, the mutant girl in need of little assistance, has more in common than Logan will admit.  There are some really bad people after her and she desperately needs Logan’s help, although she does a pretty good job of protecting and looking out for herself.

It’s an action packed thriller, a lot darker than the other movies in this franchise.  It also does show a lot of weakness and vulnerability in otherwise strong and invincible characters. At times, there’s just a little bit too much going on, like a farmer with problems with an evil corporation, and Charles’s degenerating health.

This movie reeks of a summer blockbuster, a lot of action and killing, thin plot, under developed characters.

If you’re willing to just see a lot of action and  minimal explanations, then this movie is for you.

I enjoyed it.  I like it when a super hero/strong character(s) show their flaws and weaknesses.

This movie is worth seeing, you won’t be wasting your money.  I LUV movies where girls are kicking much ass!– Just don’t expect a mind-blowing plot…

What’s on my iPhone 📱

I shared in a previous post that March was my Month of Minimalism, and one of the main things I wanted to do was downsize.  I will also be organizing, decluttering, and cleaning out a lot of stuff–physical, mental, and spiritual.  All in the name of self-care and simpler living.

I want to be more appreciative and grateful for what I have, and for me, personally, I have to detoxify first, and then on to the good stuff.

But anywho, I digress, this is supposed to be about what’s all on my phone.  I’m getting a little heavy, lol.

Introducing, my new phone, the iPhone SE in rose gold (heart eyes)

It’s so little and cute, I absolutely LUV it!

My A P P S:

Microsoft One Note:  I LUV this app!  I use it mostly for my blog, to keep up with my posts, and blogging ideas.  It keeps everything neat and tidy.

Waze: Waze it THE BEST GPS navigation app.  I have a horrible sense of direction, and Waze helps me out everytime.  It also let’s you know when it is a disabled car or cop on your route.

Kroger, Meijer, Speedway, McDonald’s, and 7-Eleven:  These are my fav apps I use to save some coins!  These apps have great deals, freebies, and keeps track of all your points and rewards.

I’m on all the usual social media sites! You can follow me on Instagram and Twitter.  I will follow back!!

I have Bitmoji because it cracks me up!  My daughter and I send each other funny Bitmoji all the time when we imessage (she has the same phone).

I have the Bible app on my phone too, just in case I leave my Bible at home or something.  I also have the Amazon Prime Video app to watch stuff like The Americans and The Wire.

That’s about it folks, nothing really fancy.  I tried not to overdo it on the apps, you know it’s Minimalism March, so I’m taking it easy.

What are some of your favorite apps?  Got a ‘what’s on my phone’ post?  Please share your link in the comments!
